FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association and the Michigan Association of Timbermen through their respective holding companies, the Timber Producers Service Corporation and the Timbermen Service Corporation are pleased to announce the joining of forces in the ownership of Mauck Insurance Agency, Inc.

Mauck Insurance Agency located in Niagara Wisconsin, was started in 1981 by Clifford and Joanne Mauck. In 2004, they sold the business to Forest Insurance Center Agency, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Timbermen Service Corporation. On December 30th, 2008 the Great Lakes Timber Professionals acquired shared ownership in part with Forest Insurance of Mauck Insurance.

Mauck Insurance, a leader in providing insurance to the forest products community, will now be governed by a board of directors from each side of the ownership entities.

When asked what separates this agency from others that provide insurance to the forest products community, General Manager Tom Buckingham is quick to point out that this agency is governed by a board of directors that are peers of association members. Direction and programs developed, are done so at the direction of the Board of Directors.

Profit generated is distributed at the direction of this same Board of Directors, which separates how this agency is overseen from one that is owned by a private individual, or private corporation. Profits can be used to run association programs, or help in representation in Madison or Lansing. Profits are not distributed to any one owner, employee or special interest group.

No other insurance agency has that type of structure or ability to support the forest products community within a members own association.

Future plans include the hiring and staffing of an agent to be domiciled in Rhinelander at the GLTPA building, continuing to research and work on the ability to start a self insurers’ workers compensation fund in Wisconsin and looking into securing a health insurance market that would be beneficial to all association members.
